This patch will make the necessary change to Apple LaserWriter Bridge software that will allow it to work under Open Transport. There are TWO different patches. One for the version of LaserWriter Bridge that was installed from Apple's Network Software Installer 1.5.1-ZM, and one for the version of LaserWriter Bridge installed with Apple's System 7.5 Update 2.0. If you have a problem running one patch, "Get Info" on LaserWriter Bridge and confirm that you are using the correct patcher for your version of LaserWriter Bridge.
This patch should work with all Macintosh computers (including PCI based Macintoshes) using Open Transport (version 1.0.8 or later). BUT, as this patch has not been extensively tested, it is a 'hack' and should be treated as such.
This patch is NOT supported by Apple Computer, Inc., so please don't ask them for technical support.

What the patch does...
Apple's LaserWriter Bridge software was designed to check for a specific version of AppleTalk software. Because Open Transport registers itself as a more recent version, this program currently will not launch without this patch. An Apple-supported update for Open Transport-compatibility is currently underway. Apple will announce availability and distribution of an update in the near future.
The LaserWriter Bridge Open Transport patch modifies this version check to recognize Open Transport. The technical details of this modification are: In the FRED resource #128 Mnd at HEX 0448 change the "<" to an "=".

Limitations...
Apple LaserWriter Bridge software (version 2.x) is incompatible with the Apple Personal LaserWriter NTR. However, Apple LaserWriter Bridge software (version 1.0) IS compatible with the Personal LaserWriter NTR, but is NOT compatible with Open Transport, nor with the Apple PowerBook 500 series. This issue will be addressed in Apple's forthcoming Open Transport compatible LaserWriter Bridge software.
This patch ONLY works on LaserWriter Bridge 2.0.1. It will NOT work on older versions.
No other incompatiblities or limitations are known.
